312 political parties fail to submit their accounts statements with ECP

ISLAMABAD: As numerous as 312 political parties have neglected to present their record their accounts statements with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) inside time for the Financial Year 2016-17.

As indicated by an authority of the ECP, some major political parties couldn’t present their announcements of accounts, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement-P (MQM-P), Muslim League (Functional), Pakistan Muslim League (Zia), Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and Pakistan Muslim League (Junejo).

He said that upwards of 31 political parties out of 345 have presented the account statements inside due time. He said that Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Qaumi Watan Party has presented its records points of interest after the expiry of the last date.

He said that the ECP got proclamations from political parties included Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat-e-Ulema Pakistan-F (JUI-F), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Awami National Party (ANP), Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and others.

He said that the last date for submissions of political parties statements of accounts for the budgetary year 2016-17 with the ECP terminated on August 29 (Tuesday).

He said that as far as Article 14 of the Political Party Order 2002, a party, which neglects to present its announcement of records under the Article 13, won’t be qualified to get decision image for contesting the elections.
