Avenfiled verdict: Sharifs’ appeals to be heard after elections

ISLAMABAD: A two-judge bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit response on appeals of expelled PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar against their conviction in the Avenfield properties reference.

The division seat involving Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kyani and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb took up their interests trying to set aside the accountability court judgment that granted 10 years detainment to Sharif, seven years to Maryam and multi year to Captain (retd) Safdar.

It dismissed their request to allow safeguard for the minute and issued notice to the Bureau to present its answer to the application looking to suspend their conviction.
