It is better to go home than to jail, Siraj tells Nawaz Sharif

QUETTA: Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has said that Nawaz Sharif should acknowledge the Supreme Court decision over his disqualification as nobody is exempt from the rules that everyone else follows, and everybody, including government officials, judges and commanders, must be considered responsible.

Conversing with media at the Quetta Press Clubs on Saturday, Sirajul Haq stated, “Nawaz Sharif and his family’s refusal to show up under the watchful eye of the responsibility court has set a negative point of reference as it urges the common citizen to disrespect courts.”

He stated: “Nawaz Sharif should have accepted the court’s decision however he organized a rally on the GT Road, demonstrating that elitist government officials don’t regard the legal … It is smarter to go home than to go to jail on corruption charges.”

JI Ameer said that his party had propelled its anti-corruption drive 16 months back, adding that it tried to hold every single degenerate component in the public arena to account.

Focusing on the requirement for across the board accountability, Haq said his party required the accountability of the PML-N government and of the PPP and Musharraf administrations since “it is corruption that harmed Pakistan more than terrorism”.
