HEC may end engineering programmes in almost 14 universities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Engineering Council in a meeting with Higher Education Commission may suspend engineering programs in almost 14 universities, for not consenting to set international standard.

“The decision has been taken to increase the teaching standards at engineering institutions, at standard with international level, particularly after Pakistan became a member of Washington Accord,” an official conscious of the development said. However, the sources stated, the issue is under consideration and there is a probability to first warn these universities to enhance their standard of educating. “However, an early decision is expected on this issue. Such universities would need to confront strict decisions on the off decision that they neglect to follow the international standard of educating,” an authority said.
