I was rejected for a film role due to skin color, says Priyanka

MUMBAI: Indian film star Priyanka Chopra in a meeting discussed how she missed out on a film because of her skin color.

While conversing with InStyle magazine, the 35-year-old Quantico star uncovered that she confronted shading segregation a year ago when a studio official called one of her operators and stated, she has the wrong physicality.

“I was out for a movie, and some individual called one of my operators and stated, ‘She’s has the wrong — what word did they utilize? — ‘physicality,'” Priyanka shared.

“So with all due respect as an on-screen character, I’m similar to, ‘Do I should be skinnier? Do I have to get fit as a fiddle? Do I need abs?’ Like, what does ‘wrong physicality’ mean?” Priyanka proceeded. “And after that my operator separated it for me. Like, ‘I think, Priy, they implied that they needed somebody who’s not darker.’ It influenced me.”

Talking about wage divergence, the diva said that it happens all over the place, be it in your nation of origin or globally the compensation hole is stunning in films with huge performers. She conceded that she manages such occurrences by influencing her operator to consult for her sake.
