Independence Cup: Match referee Richie Richardson arrives Lahore for World XI tour

LAHORE: Sir Richie Richardson, selected match official by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the upcoming Independence Cup, arrived Lahore on Saturday morning.

The previous West Indian skipper will direct as match official in the three-coordinate T20 arrangement amongst Pakistan and the elegant World XI, which will be played on September 12, 13 and 15 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday declared umpires’ names for the Independence Cup. Aleem Dar of the Elite Panel of the ICC Umpires and Ahsan Raza of the International Panel of the ICC Umpires will administer in the arrangement opener at the Gaddafi Stadium on September 12. Shozab Raza, likewise from the universal board, will be the TV umpire. The second match of the arrangement will be umpired by Ahmed Shahab and Shozab Raza, with Ahsan Raza as the TV umpire. The series final on September 15 will be umpired by Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza, with Ahmed Shahab as the TV umpire.

Aleem Dar, who was the ICC Umpire of the Year from 2009-2011, has been delegated just for the opening match as he is planned to go to the ICC Elite Match Officials workshop in Dubai on September 13-15.

Richardson has been an individual from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees since January 2016 and has refereed in 11 Tests, 19 ODIs and 18 T20Is to date.
