Nepali Sherpa summits Mount Everest for record 22nd time

KATHMANDU: A 48-year-old Nepali mountain climber climbed Mount Everest for a 22nd time on Wednesday, making another record for the most summits of the world’s most elevated mountain, climbing authorities said.

Kami Rita Sherpa achieved the 8,850-meter (29,035-foot) summit by means of the Southeast Ridge course, joined by 13 different climbers including his customers, Tourism Department official Gyanendra Shrestha said from the base camp.

His most recent climb took him one summit clear of two kindred sherpas with whom he had shared the before record.
