Opposition Parties fail to select a joint candidate for prime minister seat

The parliamentary leaders of opposition parties in their meeting on Monday are unable to concede to a joint candidate for prime minister seat. They met in the room of the opposition leader in the National Assembly and the names that were considered for the post incorporated that of Pakistan People’s Party’s Khursheed Shah and Sherry Rehman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s Pervaiz Elahi, Awami Muslim League’s Sheik Rashid, Muttahida Quami Movement’s Sheik Salahuddin, Tariq Bashir Cheema and Qaumi Watan Party’s Aftab Sherpao.

Prior to the meeting Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Sheik Rashid independently met with Khursheed Shah. Be that as it may, they were not able address the PPP’s reservations over PTI chairman Imran Khan’s announcements against its gathering leader Asif Ali Zardari.

The PTI has proposed the name of Sheik Rashid Ahmed as resistance competitor in the August 1 race for successor of Nawaz Sharif who was precluded by the Supreme Court on Friday from holding any open office.
