Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif has been disqualified

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was named in the Panama Papers investigation, has been disqualified from holding office, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled today.


Larger bench is headed by Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa while it comrpised of Mr. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Mr. Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Mr. Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed and Mr. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan.

Sharif was allegedly involved in money laundering to buy assets in London in the 1990s. The 2016 Panama Papers leak revealed that the assets were being managed through offshore companies owned by Sharif’s children.
