Oscar-winning Pakistani journalist and documentarian Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s most recent venture A Girl in the river has won an Emmy grant at the 38th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards under the classification ‘Best Documentary’ The News and Documentary Emmy Awards were held at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City on Thursday.
The narrative manages the theme of respect killings and was nominated in three categories: Best Documentary, Outstanding Short Documentary and Outstanding Music and Sound.
Dr Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s Representative to the United Nations, was also present at the occasion and saluted Sharmeen on the extraordinary accomplishment.
