Today Pakistan celebrates 71 years of independence, day dawns with gun salutes

ISLAMABAD: The country is celebrating 71st Independence Day today (Tuesday) with conventional intensity and excitement.

All significant public and private buildings, streets and roads have been decorated with enlightenments, national flags, pictures of national pioneers, pennants and buntings to give a happy look. Fireworkers started when the clock struck 12:00 am midnight. The day unfolded with thirty-one gun salute in the government and twenty-one firearm salute at the common capitals.

The main event of the day was a flag raising function at Convention Center in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain was the chief guest. At 8:59 am toward the beginning of the day alarm was sounded and the movement reached stop for one moment.
