Turkish passenger plane skids off runway metres away from black sea coast

ANKARA: A passenger plane late Saturday slipped off the runway just meters from the ocean as it arrived at an airport in northern Turkey, neighborhood media pictures appeared.

The Pegasus Airlines flight had taken off easily from the capital Ankara and arrived in Trabzon, however slid off the runway in the northern airport. Nobody was harmed or killed in the arrival.

Emotional pictures from CNN Turk telecaster demonstrated the plane hazardously hanging off a precipice a few meters (feet) from the Black Sea, its wheels stuck in mud.

Pegasus Airlines affirmed in an announcement Sunday there were no wounds among the 162 passengers onboard available and additionally two pilots and four cabin crew after they were cleared.

The reason for the incident was not known but rather an examination is under way, the Trabzon representative’s office said.
