Two Convicted police officers get bail in Benazir murder case

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court on Thursday conceded bailed to two senior police officers, Saud Aziz and Khurram Shehzad, who were convicted in Benazir Bhutto kill case.

Prior this month, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi indicted extra overseer general Saud Aziz and senior director of police (SSP) Khurram Shehzad, and fined them Rs1 million each. However, five suspects purportedly connected with the restricted Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were cleared for absence of proof.

The police officers were condemned to 17 years in jail for carelessness and security slips by that prompted the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) pioneer’s death.
