Us military cancels $300m aid to Pakistan

WASHINGTON: The US military said it has settled on an official decision to cancel $300 million in help to Pakistan that had been suspended over Islamabad’s apparent inability to make conclusive move against militants, in another hit to breaking down ties.

The purported Coalition Support Funds were a piece of a more extensive suspension in aid to Pakistan reported by President Donald Trump toward the beginning of the year, when he blamed Pakistan for remunerating past help with “nothing but lies and deceit.”

The Trump organization asserts Islamabad is conceding place of refuge to agitators who are pursuing a 17-year-old war in neighboring Afghanistan, a charge Pakistan fervently denies.

In any case, US authorities had held out the possibility that Pakistan could win back that aid in the event that it changed its conduct.
