World Test Championship: ICC to give green signals to test championship and ODI league

WELLINGTON: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the green light to a test championship and one-day league, while countries are additionally welcome to try different things with four-day tests, the world representing body said on Friday.

A test championship has for some time been mooted as a way to make the longest form of the game more pertinent for fans who have progressively turned towards constrained overs matches.

ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson told media in Auckland on Friday that while subtle elements still should have been worked out, the test championship would begin after the 2019 World Cup and come full circle with a last in mid-2021.
